Since I can't figure out how to copy and paste this (Libby....how did you do that?) I shall put it in the comments box....
There is a job I got emailed by the psych internship office and I called them and emailed them and I really hope I get to do this. It would be such a great opportunity for me! Tell me what you guys think.
It would also be great because my classes end at 1:50 this next semester.

Here is this week’s opportunity:
We are parents of 4 children, the oldest two of which have special needs. Our oldest is a 12 year old boy with hi-functioning autism, and our 10 yr old daughter is multiply disabled—mainly neurologically and hearing impaired. We are looking to hire part time staff to come to our home in North Orem to help offset the challenges that accompany their impairments. The position can be as much as 20 hours a week, but may be significantly less (no less than 3-5hrs/wk) if the position is divided among multiple staff. The requirements for this job are 3 fold:
Assistant for Amy:
Amy’s needs are our most difficult challenge. She is hearing impaired, but is learning oral language. She attends a School for the Deaf, self-contained class from 11-3 each day and receives a private program which is administered both at home and at school. We are looking for someone who can work with her on her program 1-2 hrs/day, preferably in the late afternoon. Although Amy uses some sign language, signing ability is not required for this job. The program is largely academic work-mostly language and reading. However, interaction and play is the emphasis. Characteristics and abilities we are looking for are highly mature, dependable, easy-going, FUN, enthusiastic, talkative, and extremely good with children, having no qualms about being all-out silly. Any knowledge about behavior management principles is a plus.
Assistant for Brady:
Brady attends 7th grade-mainstream for 3 hrs in the mornings. Otherwise, he also receives a private curriculum at home. We need someone who can work with him 1-2 hrs a day—partly on academics and partly on socialization and interaction. The academic work will mostly be math (algebra level). Interaction and play is also the emphasis for him. Characteristics for this job are similar to those for Amy—FUN and energetic.
Respite Provider
We also need a few hours a week (3-6 or so) of respite care for all 4 kids. This is basically taking over the job of Mom for a few hours—providing meals, helping with chores, playing with kids, changing diapers, washing dishes, reading books, helping with homework, going to the park, maybe even going swimming! This person needs to be extremely dependable, a self-starter with a lot of enthusiasm and energy—not afraid of some high emotions and occasional chaos!
If one person is both available and able to meet all these requirements, this can be a 15-20 hr/wk job. The hours are most likely between 2 and 5 in the afternoon, plus maybe one morning per week. The pay rate will be between $8 and $10/hr. During the summer months (June-mid August) the schedule will be much more flexible.
If you or anyone you know are interested, please email or call us for more information or send a resume. Please forward this on to anyone you know who may be a good candidate.
Thank you so much!!
