My First Real Date of College
As sad as that is to admit, I haven't been on any real dates since college started. I blame it on my good looks and intimidating air. Ha ha...just kidding. But yes, it is true - I have a date! I think it will be tonight. Chris Nixon, the boy I had a huge crush on this fall, and I are going on a date. We might go to his "senior social" tonight -- (yes he is a senior, but who cares? Not me!) Otherwise we'll do something else. I will copy and paste the conversation. Sadly it occurred on Facebook, and sadly I was the one to pursue it, but I don't care. I'll do what I have to do. Here, I'll just copy and paste the email I sent Leanna about it.

buhh it wouldn't let me paste the conversation into the post so I hope everyone reads this comment!
Leanna-
So here is what we said. I had no way of asking him except for facebook (which is lame) but I really wanted to just take a chance before he leaves and I never see him again. He told me he had been going on a lot of dates lately but not dating, so I figured he wouldn't think it was too weird if I just casually asked him on a date. Eh? Here it is. I'm SOOOO excited. You don't even know. I just hope we have a fun time. Any pointers? I'm just going to try to be friendly, confident, and myself throughout the night. Any tips for an outfit? I might need some suggestions! :)
Emily: So, I know this isn't really socially acceptable and it is tacky on many levels, but I was wondering if you would be interested in going out sometime. If not, don't worry about it; I won't be crushed or embarrassed, but I figured since you're leaving soon I would take a chance and ask. Let me know what you think! :)
Chris: Sounds like fun -- did you have anything in mind? I've got this "senior celebration" thing tomorrow (Friday) in the Wilk that starts at 6... I can bring a guest, and I hear there's food and prizes. Can't beat that! We could go together if that works for you, or we could do something else another time. Let me know what you've got going on.
Emily: Either option sounds good. I could come with you or we could plan something else for another time. Food and prizes are always good, but it would also be nice to get to know you a little better, so really it is up to you! I'm pretty much up for anything. I love doing active things with people, so I'm sure we'll have fun whatever we do. How about you call me and we can discuss it. I think that would be much more effective than facebook messages. :) My number is 952-454-3010.
There it is...I asked a boy on a date and it actually paid off! Just cross your fingers and say a little prayer that we have fun. All I want is one good date. I'm not planning out our future together...I just want one good date. :)
Tell me what you think! I could put this on the blog even...ha!
Love, Em.
p.s. oh yeah, I figured I needed to go on a real date before I was through my freshman year of college - ya know!?
Excellent stuff Em! Way to go taking the initiative! Thats great. I hope you have a great time tonight. It will be extra bold to go in for a goodnight smooch!!!
Ms. Emily,
I think this is wonderful! I think back to my freshmen year, and to be completely honest I got sucked into dating this guy that was 7 years older then I was, yes true story, I was 18 and he was 25. He was in my finance guy and I didn't know how old he was. Anywyas, it only lasted a couple of months, but be careful!
I am so proud of you for totally asking him out! You are awesome!
[In regards to the 25 year old I was dating, I refer to him as the rugged mountain man... the one thing I really remembered about him is that he drove a Subaru named "Sabrosa!" hehe!
