LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend...had a great dinner with the family up at Sundance Friday night...thanks again, mom! It was really nice to be together...

Drove down to Moab on Saturday afternoon...somehow it took us 7 hours to get there...still not sure how that happened (thanks again, dad, for taking a timeout from college football to give us some directions...next time a map might be useful...we DID buy one at the gas station after we got lost...even though I didn’t want to...$8 for a map of Utah? Crazy! ha!)...anyway, we got to Moab around 10:00 pm...and then started our search for a campsite...it wasn’t starting out very good, but we got super lucky & found a sweet spot right on the river...and put up our tent! (We are both still rookies to the whole camping, setting-up-a-tent deal, but we did great...sort of...dont look too closely at the tent pictures...its not EXACTLY set up correctly...but it worked!) For those of you who havent heard the story about our tent-experience yet...Nate & I put up our tent (sort-of), got inside & it was about 900 degrees inside...so, we decided to take off the rainfly...its the desert...who needs a rainfly in the desert...plus, we got to sleep under the stars (incredible!). But, at around 2 or 3 am, we started feeling some heavy sprinkles (yes, in the desert...). I, half asleep, suggested that we just hold a sleeping bag over our heads & hope that it passed...Nate laughed at me & went outside to put the rainfly back on...in the then POURING RAIN. I, like any GOOD girlfriend, stayed in my sleeping bag, inside the dry tent & laughed....it was pretty funny. I couldn’t stop laughing. Poor Nate, scrambling around to try to figure out the rainfly...Anyway, we made it through the rest of the night dry (not sure how...there was a big puddle in the morning, by our heads & a big puddle by our feet...) and had a good laugh about it the next day.

The next day we woke up early & went kayaking in Moab...down the Colorado River. It was super fun...and beautiful!! Went to Arches after that...probably one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. It was INCREDIBLE!!! SO beautiful. I loved the Delicate Arch. It was a really amazing site to see...We had such a great day!

The weekend wrapped up on Monday together...had a great breakfast with Madsen...and spent the afternoon with Mark & Lib & Emily & Nate’s friend, Ben. Ben’s parents had us all over for a really great BBQ....super sweet people. Probably one of the neatest families I’ve ever met. They were great. Nate & I played some mini golf Monday night. (I won!!)

It was a wonderful weekend. Great having Nate here...loved it. I hope you like our pictures.

Nice pictures! Busy weekend! Glad you were able to eventually find Moab. Campsites are hard to find once the sun goes down. Mark, your hair is longer than mom's! Remember, you're not at Berkley--you're at BYU. You've set the record...now you should see a barber. How's that for more than a bit of harrassment?? Leanna, thanks for posting the pictures. Mark and Libby--will you be posting more pictures? (Not the full collection of 4,000, I hope).

For the record we both did not make it thru Saturday night dry. Leanna does claim to have offered help to put the rainfly on over and over again, but I guess I couldnt hear it through her laughter. It was pretty funny. I was just happy we didnt end up sleeping with the cows that night, which was our first option.
Mark I agree with your Dad, not about the hair I think that looks great, about the pics I cant wait to see them, post soon!!
