I am excited to see Lance Armstrong back on the bike (he's riding for the Astana team in this week's Tour Down Under). It's easy to criticize the guy - I've read quite a few articles knocking his love life, questioning whether or not he was doping during his 7 Tour de France victories, and even questioning his intentions in founding Livestrong. I don't buy it. I don't think there's anything better for him to do right now. He's doing what he does best, and he's raising some serious money towards cancer research. Most of all, he's helping people foster hope. Hope in themselves, hope in medical research, hope in miracles. I read an article yesterday that had pictures of him visiting cancer patients in Australia, where they recently launched the Livestrong Foundation. Anybody seen Greg Lemond doing anything like this? Sports stars shouldn't automatically be seen as heroes, but I'm impressed by Armstrong's drive to better the lives of others. Maybe he's not a saint, but I like him. And he's got a sweet bike.

Amen. Nice outfit lance!
No...not nice outfit..."nice bike!"
Thanks for the post, Ryan.
Lance is a national hero with an amazing story. I am sure the entire country will get behind him (especially if he starts winning again). There are plenty of ego-maniac jerk athletes out there--Lance isn't in that category. We'd all be doing ourselves a favor by following his example of focus, hard work, and persistence. Dad M
(p.s. His autobiography--It's not about the Bike--is an inspirational read) p.s. I would be a better triathlete with that bike...hint, hint.
AND the outfit. C'mon.
Ok...his outfit is two thumbs up also. Dad
