So Ryan got back from St. George last night. It's so great having him back. That was the first time we have ever been apart since we got married. It felt like a long time. Ryan ran a total of 16 miles for his relay team. Two of the guys that were on the team flaked out so Ryan filled in for them.
Some info about the race, it's called the Red Rocks Relay it's held in St. George but you run all over southern utah including Zions. Ryan ran through it all: the heat, rain, and some sweet thunder storms. They started runnning at like 4:30 am Friday and were running until 11 am Saturday afternoon.

Highs included his leg that he got to run on a dirt road. One of the photographers snapped this pic of the love. What a stud my husband is!

Lows: Having to sit in some stinky smells vans for like ten hours. Lib and I have been completely engrossed in this book called the Hunger Games, the night before he left Ryan was like maybe I should take that book down. Unfortuantely I don't own the first one - I was seriously wishing I woud've just gone out and bought it for him. It totally would've helped him through all that sitting!
When Ryan got back in his own words it went something like this..."I'm glad you didn't come that would've been hell for you... Stinky, dirty, foodless vans." [There's not much that drives me more crazy than a bad smell, with this powerful nose I'm basically ingesting whatever it is]
He's really sore but overall it was a great race for him. They were a little stee-rug with supplies. No gatorade so he got pretty sick after his 3 am leg, but a good nights rest and some decent food has pulled him out of it. We're in Provo for the weekend enjoying the holiday. So all of you that are still in Provo let's visit if you're around! Emily, Clayton??

They say those relays are pretty cool--except for the vans! Most teams actually stock the vans with food and drink--sounds like you teamed up with some less than experienced relayers--or maybe they were just plan cheap. Anyway--good call with leaving Heather at home--and congrats on the race. Those are some significant miles! Would like to say the scenery would keep you going--but the 3 am leg surely brought you zero visual stimulation! Congrats! Love, Dad
sounds like a good race!! it'd be sweet running down there. and, good work, filling in for the other guys, ry!! i'm glad you're feeling better now :)
