Bad Luck

Sometimes I think that when it comes to luck, we really need to soak up some more. The darndest things happen sometimes. For example, this morning Ryan had a really early class so we woke at 6:30 and took him to the train station. He was going to take the 7am class, he had class at nine with the Dean, giving him plenty of time to get there and get settled. This morning however the train I guess hit something - it was 40 minutes late coming and he is going to be late to his class. The passangers waiting were all really upset, he talked to people that have been taking the train forever and they had never had this happen.

It reminds me of when we moved into our last apartment in Salt Lake. Our first night sleeping there, we had a huge fire scare. We had to stand outside for a couple of hours until the fire department checked everything out. There were residents outside with us that said they had been living there for years and had never had an incident like that. It was our first night and that happened.

Yesterday Thomas Edison Electrical here in California had an emergency power situation, our power was suddenly turned off from like 2 until 7. I was told after I called about it, that there was no advanced warning - and it would probably be off until 10. Bad luck! Our experience with our apartment so far has been fabulous, but we've had our water turned off twice, and our power turned off twice. We were asking, "Is this normal?" and they said that this has never happened. Just bad timing -

Sometimes it seems like things really just don't go our way.

Nice post, Heather. Reality shows are the hit of the airwaves...so we are all interested in real life events--even those not made for TV. Sounds like you're surviving the adversity pretty well! You'll appreciate the next few weeks, as things settle in and the train and electricity becomes reliable again. Dad M
