So mom has been in her current job for more than 2 years now. As you know, her shifts start at 5:15 am, which means she leaves the house about 4 am. That, of course, requires her to be out of bed by about 2:45 am.
I find it totally amazing that for at least 2 years, she has never slept through her alarm. She's been able to drag herself out of bed and get herself to work on time--even given this worst conceivable shift schedule.
Kudos to mom! Amazing work! (Oh, and did I mention that she's never fallen asleep during one of these shifts (that last, often, until 9 pm)! I really don't ever want dialysis done by someone who has been working for 16 hours--but mom gets the job done.
All of this would have been a bit easier on her if she were a morning person--which we know she is not, not, not! Night person: yes, definitely!
Amazing!

This really is incredible! Not sure how this is physically possible over the long term, but it has been 2 years. Is it possible to reprogram a night owl into a morning person? Either way, it is certainly a testament to the power of the mind over the body, the human will above all else. Congratulations on such hard work Mom!
this is a well-deserved post - i'm sure mom you are looking forward to getting that new schedule already! congrats on getting through some hard days! you have certainly had a CRAZY schedule - and you always give 100% to your patients...which is exhausting in and of itself!
from one night owl to another, well done! :)

I remember my days working at Snowbird with the same schedule - wake up by 3:15, drive 45 minutes in the dark (while everyone else in the world is still sleeping!!), get to work by 5...I remember how tired I would be....it's no easy task. Mom, it's very impressive that you've been able to maintain this schedule. Can't believe its already been 2 years - congrats!
