Shunning

Wow--two movie reviews in one week! Just finished Shunning, a story about a 20 year old Amish woman--living in an Amish community. The film is only 88 minutes and I'd consider the last 30 as very compelling--so don't give up on it too soon! I cried--which is no small thing, but a good thing. There are multiple story lines about parenting, motherhood, personal sacrifice, and love of others--of course, you get a glimpse into the Amish culture at no extra cost.

p.s. I also cried during Les Miserables--a month ago--for the first time in a long while. I had previously seen Les Mis as primarily a story of conflict--but viewed it this time as a series of love stories...took awhile for that to sink in!

Glad you mentioned the movie! I'll have Ry hit that up for me next time he's at the library. I really don't know that much abut the Amish and I'm curious to know more.

Making some cookies, I have a major sweet tooth, too bad I can't hit up a turtle sunday from Culvers:)

Great post
