Opening Day

So, do you want to know one of my pet peeves? It is that major league baseball starts on April 1st. Baseball, yes--that great American summer sport! In the big leagues it is a summer sport that begins while there is still snow on the ground in the northern climates! (This picture wasn't taken this week and we don't have that much snow on the ground--but we have plenty of snow and at least a foot of ice on the lake.) So, here's my reaction to all of this--I almost pray for bad weather during April baseball games--teach Bud Selig (a UW grad) and the owners a lesson. Of course, it won't matter how much snow we get this April or in the future--the bean counters will continue to push for a long season--isn't 162 regular season games long enough?? Oh, now that you got me going... I was really bothered to see pre-season baseball on TV. Really, those games are the epitome of non-events.

True confession: I am not a big baseball fan--but still find this April baseball to be appaulling.

Petes,

You are my kind of guy! You articulated me feelings completely, 'those games are the epitome of non-events'. I honestly feel like they have ruined the sport of baseball for me. I may at one point enjoyed it if they didn't beat us all to a pulp with the massive amounts of baseball that they are always showing. By the end I know I"m supposed to care about the finals but I just can't quite get into the spirit. Looking forward to NBA finals. Who is everyone routing for? I know Nate isn't a Heat fan. Lelers where do you stand? I still love Celtics, even more than the Heat even though you all know we love King James!

Loving all the updates Petes.

I'll be cheering for the celtics...but Nate says no one can beat the lakers....I was halfway tempted to buy tickets from a friend to the heat v. twolves game tonight...just to watch lebron, but I knew nate wouldn't be a fan of that idea! Hopefully the celtics make a run at it! Gotta love that team!!! :)

Also...as much as I do love baseball, I agree that it doesnt feel like baseball season yet. I'll feel excited to follow the Twins in early June...I love summertime baseball!!! This is just too early!
